Surgical Pathology Revenue Cycle Management

Surgical pathology is a unique specialty that requires real attention to detail.  The first step is to insure that the correct physician services are assigned to each hospital charge description master number.  The second step is to assure that all chargeable procedures are captured and billed.  At Medigistics we use an accession number tracking and auditing system to make sure we have accounted for all charges.  The third step is to make sure that the correct diagnosis and number of units is captured for each procedure.

 That information is then combined with the demographic information from the hospital registration system.  We scrub the claims through a “procedure to correct diagnosis” database to insure the correctness of the information.  Once the information passes those tests the information feeds into the billing system and on to our claim clearinghouse where immediate eligibility and coverage determinations are made.  This whole process insures that all of a pathology practice’s work is accurately captured, scrubbed and billed and gives the practice increased cash flow and fast claim turnaround.  It also gives them peace of mind that the job is done right.
