Introduction to Medigistics

Medigistics can trace it's beginning to 1934 when Mr. Stanley R. Mauck founded The Medical Bureau to assist physicians with the business side of their professional practice. Mr. Mauck was an alumnus of Ohio Wesleyan University and held a Masters of the Arts from Harvard University, Department of Economics. In 1939 he wrote a series of articles for The Ohio State Medical Journal. Mr. Mauck understood that physicians needed to focus on the fact that their profession was also a means of making a living.

In the 1950's The Medical Bureau began offering bookkeeping and billing services to physicians. At that time it was a paper based system using ledger cards from their offices. In the 1960's computers began to be utilized and software was developed by us to provide improved billing and accounts receivable management services.

In 1995 due to year 2000 concerns Medigistics began the task of completely updating our hardware and software we used for billing and accounts receivable management. Prior to 1995 we had always written our own software for billing and accounts receivable management. We have invested millions of dollars in our business for new equipment, training and software. This investment delivers to our clients a system that is ready for the changing environment of medical reimbursement and is HIPPA compliant.

In January 2007 we changed our name to Medigistics from Medibill which was in use since 1986. In the fall of 2006 we applied for a trademark for the name Medigistics with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

In 2005 Medigistics processed and billed over 2.5 million services and posted over 92 million dollars in revenue for our clients. Approximately 85% of our work is with Radiology, Anesthesiology, Clinical Laboratory and Pathology.

Medigistics is an employee owned company with offices in Columbus, Cincinnati and Dayton Ohio. 

Over these many years we can say we are proud of our long history of providing innovative, complete and ethical services to our clients.  It is this company culture that has enabled us to grow and maintain long-term relationships with the physicians that employ us.
